About

Most people never properly see ants. They’re something you step over, brush away, or vaguely remember from a documentary. I founded TikiAnts to change that.

We provide clean, wall-mounted and desk friendly habitats that bring ants out of the cracks in the pavement and into your everyday space. Not only as a science project, but as something you’d actually want to look at. Something you’d hang on your wall. Because when you see how they organise, build, communicate and solve problems together, what once looked like random movement becomes a miniature civilisation.

TikiAnts isn’t just about keeping ants. It’s about creating a window into a world that’s been there all along, just out of sight. And once you start watching, it’s surprisingly hard to look away.

Why keep ants?

Ants offer a rare chance to observe a complete social system at close range. A single colony contains division of labour, communication, decision-making, and long-term planning, all operating continuously and without training or interference. Unlike most animals, ants make their internal world visible, allowing everyday behaviours to be watched rather than inferred.

Keeping ants is also a practical way to engage with biology and ecology. Their lifecycles, environmental needs, and responses to change can be observed directly, making them a living model of evolution, cooperation, and adaptation. For many, this quiet, contained complexity is more compelling than traditional pets, offering sustained curiosity rather than interaction.
